Keeping learners — especially children — safe is central to how AYCEAI is built and operated. This page summarizes our approach to child safety, data security, and regulatory compliance.
Child safety
- Children use AYCEAI through a parent/guardian account or a school account, with verified consent (see Consents).
- We design lessons and feedback to be age-appropriate, and we do not serve behavioral or targeted advertising to children.
- The AI Study Coach operates within educational guardrails intended to keep interactions focused on learning.
- We never sell children’s personal information.
Data security
- Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted on a need-to-know basis.
- We run on managed cloud infrastructure with private databases and least-privilege access controls.
- Secrets and credentials are stored in a dedicated secrets manager, not in application code.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable, current safeguards.
Regulatory compliance
- COPPA — we obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13, minimize what we collect, and honor parental rights to review, delete, and withdraw. See Privacy and Consents.
- FERPA — when used through a school, we act as the school’s service provider and use student information only to provide the educational service, under the school’s direction.
- State privacy laws — we honor applicable rights to access, correct, and delete personal information.
AI safety & supervision
AYCEAI uses AI to generate lessons, quizzes, and feedback. AI can be inaccurate or incomplete, so it is an aid to learning rather than a replacement for professional instruction. We recommend that children use AYCEAI with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher.
